Development is a Team Sport

By examining the challenges in charitable giving from the perspective of the high net worth donor household, we can discuss ways to create a more efficient process to meet donor’s philanthropic needs and desires. Ninety percent of these households give to charitable organizations annually, while only four percent claim to be experts in the complex charitable giving process. Understanding these giving trends and statistical data about today’s donors supports a fresh look at how we may better support them in their giving process. As a Team, comprised of the donor, the development officer, and the donor’s legal, accounting and financial advisors, a more donor – centric approach can result in more informed and effective charitable giving for both the donor and the charitable organization. Joe's particular focus will be on Donor Advised Funds.

Still Relevant? ….You Bet ….On Goes the Charitable Gift Annuity!

While the simplicity of establishing a CGA has driven its popularity and allowed many charities to grow their planned gifts……is change on the horizon? While it has held the mantel of ‘most popular life-income gift’; the overall number of CGAs received appears to be contracting. Additionally, organizations are seeing a greater variety in the type of annuities they receive, size of gift, as well as the assets being used. Discussion will range from specific individual gift scenarios to general industry observations.
